Tester Job Description
Summary
Responsible for testing and evaluating the software applications and systems that make computers function.
The Job Role and Responsibilities
Testing all aspects of the product/system like function/component, system, performance, regression and service.
Review and analyze user stories to determine reasonability, testability, resource requirements and sequencing.
Develop test cases from business requirements.
Generate historical analysis of test results.
Maintain database of software defects.
Examine code and execution of code in various environments.
Verify specific action or function of code.
Identify and log defects, work with development to resolve, and verify fixes when implemented.
Participate in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement in process and standards for the entire team.
Participate in application planning meetings.
Perform reviews, walkthroughs, or inspections.
Education and Requirement
Bachelor of Science in related engineering or computer science discipline or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of Quality Control principles and methodology is an asset
Knowledge of testing processes and methodologies
Good Communication and interpersonal skills
Analytical reasoning and problem solving
Experience in developing test instructions and procedures.
Experience with cross-functional teams focused on the proper conversion of requirements into unit tests and test cases.
Excellent knowledge and experience with test methodology, QA process and the SDLC.
Understanding of Agile and/or Scrum and how QA is performed within such a project is a plus
